QUIET ROOM

Sound absorbing wall art for sensory friendly bedrooms, playrooms and nurseries.

What Quiet Room is

Quiet Room is The Muted Collection's line for families: sound absorbing wall art for a sensory bedroom, playroom or nursery, the rooms where kids sleep, play and wind down. Bare walls and hard floors make every voice, toy and footstep ring. Each frame absorbs that echo, so the room sounds softer.

Families of sound-sensitive kids are who we built it for. The frames are wall art that absorbs echo. They are not a medical product or a treatment, and they do not soundproof a room.

What it does, measured

1 frame: 7% less echo
2 frames: 11% less echo
3 frames: 15% less echo

Three 24×24 frames cut echo in the speech range by 15% in a 12×10×8 ft room, measured September 28, 2026 with a calibrated microphone. One frame cut it by 7% and two by 11%. Three of the larger 24×36 frames are estimated at about 21%.

Inside each frame is 2 inches of Owens Corning 703, the NRC 1.0 absorber used in recording studios, behind art printed on acoustic fabric.

What it does not do

It does not block noise from the next room, the street or a sibling down the hall. Panels treat the sound inside a room. For most kids' rooms, two or three frames on different walls is where the change is easy to hear.

Where to start

Calm, low-contrast art suits a quiet room. Jim Tavernetti's monochrome lotus pieces were made as a pair: Open Lotus, Still Lotus, or both in the Dual Lotus set of 2. Use the Quiet Calculator to see how many frames your room needs.

Frames hang flush on one screw with a magnetic mount, are handmade in Phoenix, Arizona, and ship free in the US.
